Introduction to our Training Courses

We have made a short video to show you how our Training Courses work, so you can really see the benefits of working with a personal trainer. Just click on it to view and hear what is in a typical course. We know many people will have sound turned off on their computers so we have included a useful transcript below, which you can also download with the link just here on the left.

“Hello, let me introduce myself, I am Geoffrey, one of the trainers here at Safeguarding Plus.

Unlike many others in this sector, we use a personal approach to Safeguarding Training. There is a lot of information to take in, so having a real person to teach you, with the opportunity to ask your questions and have your questions answered in person is absolutely crucial

What is more, we come from a background of having fifteen years of experience in working in schools and educational establishments throughout the nations capital.

We know what the real business of looking after school staff and pupils is all about, and that is one of the reasons why we expanded into the specialist area of safeguarding training some six years ago.

That means we have more experience in this sector than many of our competitors.

So, what is in a typical course from Safeguarding Plus?

Whether it be whole-school basic safeguarding awareness training or specialist training for those who have a designated lead role, all of our courses are bespoke to the needs of the school, setting or group. They are grounded in best practice and reference directly to the latest legislation and DfE guidance. Each course is designed to address the relevant training group competences described by Local Safeguarding Children Boards and regulatory bodies. Courses are interactive and draw heavily upon the experience of the participants.

And who are these courses aimed at, who are they suitable for?

We get to teach a lot of Head Teachers and Designated leads in Schools, what their responsibilities are with regard to government expectations and guidance on safeguarding children in their care. We also give Whole School training to satisfy your schools needs in that respect too.

When we are teaching smaller groups like Head Teachers and Designated Leads, you have the choice of coming to our well appointed training room in Sidcup.

or we come to you to deliver the training at a venue of your choice.

Many people approach us and say: “what is the training actually like? What happens? What do you cover off?” Here is a typical one-day programme accredited by the Safer Recruitment Consortium, which draws upon knowledge and understanding of of- fender behaviour to:

•Identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people

•Consider policies and practice that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting

•Help participants begin to review their policies and practice in recruitment with a view to creating a safer culture

The course includes an assessment element, and successful delegates will be awarded a certificate of completion.

Please note – this is not intended to be a comprehensive workshop on staff recruitment and selection – it is a one day programme and we offer several other fuller courses where they are needed, including bespoke ones to suit your particular needs.

It has been great introducing you to what we do – get in touch with us if you have any questions at all, talk to us on the phone or visit our website for more information.
